Great Finnish sauna and very comfortable beds. A pleasant and helpful lady in the café. A shortage of sauna sheets in the spa area. An issue redeeming the voucher for a "Signature drink" at the Pod Oblaky bar—apparently, it was valid only for one specific alcoholic drink containing Becherovka. However, when we went to the Bohemian bar in the lobby, the voucher could be used for any Signature drink, including non-alcoholic options. The door to the staff-only area near room 4301 is broken, and the frequent closing of the door creates noise that carries into the room. Breakfast service is poor regarding clearing tables and resetting cutlery; once staff remove a plate and cutlery, they do not replace the cutlery, so guests naturally have to take it from other tables, leaving those tables without cutlery. Additionally, our order from the à la carte menu was forgotten; we had to follow up—or rather, re-order—after 20 minutes.

Overall, I would rate my stay at Swissôtel Mariánské Lázně very positively. First of all, I would like to highlight the male staff at breakfast, especially Mr Martin and his colleague. Their approach was very pleasant, professional and genuinely warm. This is exactly the kind of service I would expect from a hotel of this standard. I would also like to praise the reception team. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and whenever something needed to be addressed, it was dealt with almost immediately. Breakfast was very good for most of the stay, with a wide selection and high-quality food. However, on the final day, the standard was noticeably different. For example, the Eggs Benedict were prepared completely differently from the previous days, and some items that had previously been available, such as roast beef, were missing altogether. It gave me the impression that there had been a change of shift and, unfortunately, also a certain inconsistency in quality. This was a shame, as the breakfasts on the previous days had set the bar very high. The spa was a very pleasant surprise. It is beautiful, modern, spotlessly clean and, during our stay, surprisingly quiet, which meant we could really enjoy it in peace. The only thing I missed in the steam room was the option of herbal or aromatic steam with essential oils. In such an attractive spa area, this would take the overall experience one step further. That said, I would strongly recommend paying close attention to the long-term maintenance of the bathrooms. Unless the shower enclosures are cleaned very thoroughly and regularly, mineral deposits from the water are likely to build up quite quickly. Even now, despite the hotel having been open for less than a year, brownish deposits are already visible in some of the corners. It would be a real pity if such a new and otherwise very attractive hotel started to look prematurely worn in these details. Unfortunately, the bathtub was also not completely clean when we arrived. On the positive side, I must once again praise the response from reception. Everything was dealt with without unnecessary delay, and a very kind member of the housekeeping team came to resolve the issue. I appreciated the way the hotel handled the situation, but this is still something that should not happen in the first place. The final room inspection should ensure that a room is released to the guest only once it is truly 100% ready, particularly in a hotel of this category. I also had a minor issue with the air conditioning in the room. It was not really possible to regulate the fan speed properly, even though the control panel displayed several fan settings. Whether one, two or three fan symbols were selected, there did not seem to be much noticeable difference in airflow. In a hotel of this standard, I would expect to be able to adjust not only the temperature but also the intensity of the ventilation comfortably. Parking deserves a separate mention. I fully understand how difficult it can be to create garage parking spaces in historic buildings, particularly where strict renovation requirements and the preservation of original architectural features are involved. Nevertheless, I was rather surprised by the dimensions of some of the parking spaces. Before arriving, I had assumed that a newly opened hotel would have generous parking designed with the type of clientele in mind who may arrive in larger cars. Unfortunately, that was not the case. My impression was that, in an effort to create as many parking spaces as possible, the width of some of them had been reduced almost to the limit of practical usability. After parking safely next to the neighbouring car, there was such a narrow gap left that getting out of the vehicle was virtually impossible. And I am certainly not someone who normally has difficulty squeezing through a tight space. I would therefore like to thank the hotel staff who ultimately helped to “rescue” me from my BMW, because I genuinely doubt I would have managed to get out through the tiny gap that remained after parking safely next to the adjacent vehicle. The receptionist also told me that additional parking spaces are currently being considered. I sincerely hope this plan works out well for the hotel, because parking is, in my opinion, one of the few areas that does not yet match the otherwise very high standard of the property. Overall, however, the hotel left a very good impression. I appreciated the beautiful surroundings, the excellent spa and, above all, the staff, who dealt with any issues quickly, professionally and with a genuinely human approach. For that reason, I would still evaluate the hotel positively, although I believe it is important to address some of these details early so that the property maintains its high standard in the years to come. And then there is one final Mariánské Lázně dilemma: Swissôtel or Ensana Maria Spa? Ensana Maria Spa may officially be one category lower, but it is very tastefully designed, more affordable and, in my experience, has much better parking arrangements. Swissôtel, on the other hand, offers the appeal of a brand-new property, modern surroundings, a beautiful spa and very pleasant service. So, if you asked me which one I would choose, my answer would be simple: I do not know. Each has its own strengths, and each also has something that could be improved. This time, you will have to make up your own mind.
