Love this hotel and pricing was decent based on the view we paid for. Initially booked a room with king sized bed with a classic Kaaba view. When we arrived and got the room it was with a partial Kaaba view. I was disappointed but went back to the front desk to see if the situation could be rectified. Alhamdulillah the staff at the front desk were able to move us to a room with the perfect view we wanted even though instead of a king bed we got two full beds. (I only cared about the view). I still give them 5 stars because this hotel gets really crowded, and they did their best to accommodate us. Overall the staff are great throughout the hotel. Elevators can take sometimes because again it's a very busy and large hotel. It's the left building of the clock tower when you're looking at it. You have to pay extra for the breakfast, and it's worth it. The breakfast was great. Will stay here again inshaAllah!

Everything from check-in to check-out went smoothly, expertly handled by the well-trained staff. Breakfast was nice. Room upgrade was top-tier! Suggestions for improvement: 1. Executive lounge to improve offerings, maybe light meals or even meals to match the offerings at the likes of Hilton, etc. 2. Welcome snacks weren't received after multiple requests. 3. Provide complimentary wheelchairs for elderly to hire against the room number, for using to the Haram and back. 4. Basement pick-up zone congestion to improve traffic flow.

Nice stay, friendly staff, worderful room and scenery, very delicious food. It would be nice if we could also have early check in kakbah view (they allowed us to check in at almost 4.30 pm), but they allowed us early check in at other view room which was very nice of swissotel😀. In ka’bah view room it would be better if they spray the perfume inside the room ( in the outside room the perfume smell is good but there is no good smell inside the room).

The stay was good and the hospitality was fine. However the room food service was awful. Firstly, as soon as I checked in and got to my room, the closets have automatic lights, mine was defective and wasn’t turning off. It was on from the moment I entered the room and wasn’t turning off. When my luggage’s were delivered approximately 10-15 minutes after I entered the room, I was told multiple times that it will turn off automatically after a couple minutes. And it wasn’t until I insisted multiple times that it hasn’t turned off since I got to the room, that the assistant called someone to check the issue. After another 20-30 minutes, someone came and fixed the issue. This is an issue that should’ve been detected while the room was being prepared. I wanted to rest after the journey to Makkah but I was delayed and set back by having to wait for this issue to be fixed. On the first night, I ordered the Iskender kebab meal with Crème brûlée. The meal arrived cold which is unacceptable, the desert was not to my preference but that doesn’t reflect on my score as it isn’t their fault. On the second day, I ordered the Hot mixed Mezze and the Chicken Biriyani and a Hot Chocolate. On the phone I had noted that the food yesterday arrived cold and I wanted to request it would be served extra hot this time. I was kindly offered a complimentary fruit platter due to the negative experience the prior day. This platter did not arrive. This shows there is clear dis-coordination between ordering food and serving the meals. Furthermore, I was throughly disappointed with the Mezze. The menu described that it would be mixed between Vegetables, cheese, meat and something else akin to falafel or such. However every pastry served was only filled with vegetables, despite them being different shapes. Furthermore, I only received the sauce and pickles for the biriyani, no dipping sauces were served with the Mezze. The chicken biriyani was delicious except for the added sultanas. I don’t like them and if the menu had stated that they were in the meal, I would’ve either ordered something else or requested they weren’t added. It was not enjoyable having to pick them all out of the meal. Finally, on the last day, I ordered the berry berry cheesecake and the fillet steak. I was deeply disappointed with both. Whilst the cranberries and blackberry on top of the cheesecake were delicious and fresh, the cheesecake did not taste sweet at all, it was not cold, nor did it have the taste of soft cheese at all. I’m unsure if this was a locale issue but I didn’t enjoy the cake and left it mostly uneaten. The steak was the biggest disappointment. I took pictures because I was so disappointed. I requested the steak to be cooked medium, however I was served a very well done steak. I even took pictures of the inside of the steak because I was so dumbfounded at how overcooked the steak was. This was tough, cooked brown throughout, cold again and wasn’t even served with a steak knife. The mushroom sauce was thick and had that yoghurt like consistency of a cold sauce where the fats have started to solidify. Again, I have pictures of this. Finally my last major disappointment was that the room service discarded my stray from my Stanley Cup water bottle. I had taken apart my bottle to wash and left the lid and the straw in the bathroom near the sink. The straw component does not look disposable. It is solid, strong, wide and very tall. I don’t believe it could’ve easily been mistaken for a disposable straw which is why I am so disappointed. I was extremely disappointed with my stay and though my parents are going to perform Umrah in the next few weeks, I will be advising them not to stay at Swissotel Makkah due to my negative experience.
